Test Switch Isolator

Let´s Dance

Hailing from the UK, Test Switch Isolator consists of four members on the typical instruments (guitar, bass guitar, drums and a guy with a microphone). Their debut album "Let's Dance" is nothing short of brilliant, with the combination of grind with hardcore and some jazzy elements give the album a very unique feel. Some songs just tear your ears apart with their amazing musical work and a singer that's able to do anything from deep growls to high pitched screams. Cleverly enough, in between the fiercest songs, Test Switch Isolator has put short interludes all titled "This Rat Spawn ?" with different endings to it. They are mellow interludes that gives the listener a small break from the constant madness on the regular songs.

Also, this isn't an album to be taken all too serious. There?s a lot of humour, for instance when a Family Guy sound sample is used in the start of the track "Chubby Gets Slapped", which in itself isn't a serious title, where a festive horn is sounded and the singer says: "But seriously?"

My favourite track on this record has to be "Now You See It, Now It's Been Shot In The Head By An AK47" because this track has it all. This is the one showing off what these guys can do with brutality, jazzy sequences and rock 'n' roll bits all in one song. It's simply amazing. The only negative thing I can think of in "Let's Dance", is that it is a relatively short album. Only ten tracks, where three are interludes, finishing just beyond the 24 minute mark. It isn't much but it still gets the job done. I'd personally like to have a few more tracks to listen to, but I guess I have to wait till their next release. Hardcore and grind fans should definitely get this.
