Cataract

Kingdom

Despite being formed as a side project band in summer 1998, Cataract is now Switzerland’s one of the most premiere metal outfits and Europe's one of the most acclaimed bands in the metalcore genre. Once again, the band is blasting through the world’s stereo systems with their fourth album, “Kingdom”.

Cataract's “Kingdom” was produced by Denmark's most appreciated producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Sick Of It All and many others) in his Antfarm Studio. The album's reliably solid production proves that Cataract did a wise decision in choosing Tue Madsen as the producer and also that Tue Madsen knows how to get the most out of a band. There are 11 tracks on the album with the band's own characteristic style, blessed with a crushing sound. Federico Carminitana's gruff scowls and gang vocals complete the album's aggressive sound. The guitarists Greg Mäder and Simon Füllemann did an excellent job but it is quite clear that they have listened to Slayer a lot with Kerry King being the biggest influence for them. The guitar solos seem like a good imitation of Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, i do not know if you will mind that or not but i can honestly say that the guitar works are the most outstanding part of the album.

The only downside I can mention about the album is that there is nothing new with their music. But that does not change the fact that Cataract returned with a succesful album and continue their rise into one of the most successful bands in their genre.
