Regurgitate

Sickening Bliss

Despite my vast openmindedness to all kinds of bands aside from the mainstream ones, I will never learn to understand bands in this genre. The extreme grindcore scene is full of obscure bands like Regurgitate, whose vocalists seem to gargle rather than growl, and whose instrumental skills seem to be limited to "who can play most unrecognizable noise fastest with complete disregard to other instruments in the band".

"Sickening Bliss"'s title couldn't be more appropriate should the 'bliss' part be removed. Sickening is the perfect way to describe the sound of Regurgitate, that of constant lightspeed torture of the drums, the frog-like 'growling' of their frontman (that sounds more like he is trying to burp) and the guitars that hammer their way through near the speed of the drums. Melody? Forget about it. Structure? Slightly but not audible. 26 songs in 35 minutes? Check. To the untrained grindcore listener, this sounds exactly the same as the others in the genre, and perhaps the only act that can be connected to this out there is The Berzerker. An objective five is all I'm able to give to the band.
