Let

Høstfeber EP

Originally from Ribe, now just from around Jylland, Let have actually been a band since 1991, only under a different moniker. Bomb Squad, as they were called back then, was more a of thrash metal band, and because they decided to radically change direction so many years later, a name change was in order. In its current reincarnation, Let has released a demo more than a decade ago, and an EP in 2012 called "Sange Fra Kælderen" ("Songs From The Basement") prior to the release of their sophomore EP "Høstfeber".

Stylistically, Let find themselves in the realm of industrial rock with considerable influence sucked in from hard rock and heavy metal as well. Opener "Efterklang", for instance, has a distinctly echoing industrial soundscape that recalls Rammstein, only in a softer version and with clean vocals instead. The backing synths draw your mind towards the 80s and early 90s, however. Next up, "Se Bort!" is more of a hard rock track with heavy metal embedded thanks to 8 string guitars being used for a chunkier sound, but then we're back into clean version of Rammstein on "Tomt". It's a fairly generic sound with only few patches of catchy vocals here and there, but overall it doesn't really leave behind a memorable impression. The instrumentation is decent, the production is fine for a band of their size, but the Rammstein vibe just isn't something any band should really be going for, to be honest, as evident throughout the four tracks on offer here. That is, unless you're a fan of German cheese. Here, exchange German with Danish lyrics instead and you're just about there.
