You'd imagine a band like The Bronx slow down at some point. After all, who can keep up as insane levels of passion and energy for six albums straight? That's not a problem in the slightest for Matt Caughthran and company, whose furious rock'n'roll fueled punk rock shows no signs of tiring on their sixth album "Bronx VI". The expression continues to be nearly as in-your-face and rowdy as it was on their early records, featuring an uncontrollable freight train loaded with groovy guitars solos, nitroglycerin-induced explosive sing-alongs, and raw energy and pure emotion on display throughout.

The first three tracks of the album feel like a bomb explosion. "White Shadow" first brings us urgency and immediacy in the form of a sublime sing-along, before "Superbloom" and especially "Watering The Well" hits a home run with its humongous "send somebody to rescue me" chants. These types of songs are signature style The Bronx tracks where passion and energy run sky-high and blend with catchy rock'n'roll melodies and sing-alongs for an awe-inspiring display of raw power.

After the bombastic opening, "Curb Feelers" and "Peace Pipe" take the aggression levels down a notch and lean more on alternative rock, though still maintaining The Bronx's unique style. "High Five" delivers another brilliant sing-along, before "Mexican Summer" briefly references their mariachi alter ego, Mariachi El Bronx. But then it's time to floor the pedal again for "New Lows", which features coarse screams and breakneck speed shredding wrapped in grooves and mini-solos throughout. It is exemplary of how the best Bronx material sounds like: a non-stop display of fury with a melodic tinge attached as a safety measure on the otherwise uncontrollable runaway train.

Comparing "Bronx VI" to its predecessors, its roughly equivalent to "V" but falls short of "The Bronx (IV)" from 2013. The latter was a masterpiece in this scribe's opinion, whereas "Bronx VI" is merely a continuation piece for a band that's solidly sitting on the throne of the best rock'n'roll fueled punk rock out there.
