Movements

Ruckus!

Being a band for six years, Movements have gone from strength to strength on each release. They aren't a band that wants to repeat the same sound from a previous album. On "Ruckus!", they experiment with a few new sounds to prove precisely why they are a band to keep an eye on. It comprises ten songs and is only 36 minutes long. And those are some enjoyable 36 minutes.

"(Follow the sound, you just have to trust it)" leads one into the first track, "You're One Of Us Now" and the dark and gloom that takes the listeners back to the start of their career, while the next song" Killing Time" switches up the pace, with a groovy bassline, a bit more chill vocals, and tortured lyrics, but a catchy chorus. In the blink of an eye, Movements go over to the more poppy sound while not straying too much from their signature sound with a hard-hitting rock-esque chorus.

"I Hope You Choke" has the whole band joining in on the chorus, featuring punk undertones, while the guitars carry the song. Movements ooze with creativity on this album. But it doesn't stop here. "A.M.P" turns one's head with a somewhat danceable track where one feels it throughout the song. And while talking about groovy guitars," Heaven Sent" doesn't shy away. Overall, some would say that Movements tries to pack a lot of genres into one album. They have ensured that there's a fine line, kept their roots in most of the songs, and kept the listeners on their toes. Throughout the album, while we're given some funk, groovy guitars, Movements don't shy away from serving up some angsty undertone throughout different songs, like" Killing Time" and" Dance With Death," which is heavy on the guitar riffs and aggressive choruses.

There's a bit for everyone on the album. Movements move a bit around in the genres and try something new. But they don't fail to deliver. While they miss some golden moments by adding more punch to a few songs during a pre-chorus, like" A.M.P" and" Killing Time". They make up for it during other moments on the album, including "Tightrope", which gives us a softer side of them. "Ruckus!" is a strong album, energetic, and one of their most ambitious releases.
