Grokster closes

Grokster has just stopped distributing their popular P2P client to the public. This is four months after the US judicial system decided that the P2P software companies can be held accountable for any piracy happening in their network, whether they know it or not.

Grokster agreed to pay $50,000,000 in compensation to the major labels. eDonkey and WinMX stopped distributing their software immediately after the court decision.

DC++ and the Direct Connect software, both developed by open source projects, are still distributing their highly popular clients freely without any sign of action similar to Grokster's.
