BETA unveils new concept: Beat Ups by BETA

Copenhagen venue Beta has presented a new show concept dubbed Beat Ups, which will focus on the stars of tomorrow. Booker and venue manager Mikkel Wad Larsen offered the following on the concept:

With Beat Ups, we are giving people the chance to experience some of the new music that is emerging right now, without it costing a fortune. This includes both domestic and international bands, who we predict have a bright future ahead, and on whom the scene and industry are keeping a close eye on right now.

Commenting on the development of the live music scene over the past few years, he said:

It has more or less exploded. The supply of music is enormous, with loads of concerts - not least by big international artists. There are of course big concerts one cannot miss, and festivals one simply needs to participate in, but we should not forget the little guy. There are so many with something to offer, and that's what we want to focus on with Beat Ups. Here the price is so low that most people can join in, even if they've just bought a concert ticket for 800 DKK.

The show series will launch next Thursday, January 23rd with Finnish space/blues/psychedelic rockers Death Hawks and local stoner rock crew Octophuzz. Rockfreaks.net writers AP & BV will be spinning the decks and ensuring your ears are graced with appropriate tunes off the stereo all night. Doors are at 20:00, and tickets can be bought for a measly 50 DKK (incl. charges) via Billetlugen.dk.

These shows will, in the future, take place approximately once per month, with the program announced as they go. Thus far the February and March editions will feature pop/folk-rockers Ages And Ages on the 15th of February (tickets available here, and Danish indie-rockers Dance With Dirt on the 07th of March (tickets available here).
