Rikke Øxner steps down as chief booker for Roskilde Festival

Rikke Øxner, whom many of us rock music fans have come to criticize for the dwindling number of relevant bands at the annual Roskilde Festival, has announced she will step back from her position as the chief booker for the festival.

She will be replaced by 31-year old Anders Wahrén, who has been unofficially acting as the head of music program since at least December 2013. Our research suggests that he prefers hip hop and heavy metal privately, and frequents festivals like SXSW (South By Southwest) and Tomorrowland as well

For some insight into what kind of lineups he might be booking, we can look back at the posters when he was acting as a regular booker for the festival in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Furthermore, his career includes working as an agent at Live Nation, the biggest tour booking agency in the world, where he participated in the project that founded Copenhell, as well as volunteering at Gimle between 2000 and 2007.

Here's some insight into what sort of bands relevant to Rockfreaks.net he has liked on Facebook:

Converge

The Psyke Project

The Dillinger Escape Plan

Pelican

Baroness

Neurosis

Faith No More

Hatesphere

Tool

Mastodon

Sounds promising. Let's see what 2015 brings us.
