Beatbox Booking reacts to the boycott from Danish festivals

Yesterday we reported on how Roskilde Festival, Smukfest, Nibe Festival and Jelling Musikfestival were making a united front against the recently announced Tinderbox Festival and its associated bookers Beatbox Concerts and Skandinavian, stating that they would encourage artists to negotiate directly with their own festivals instead of through their bookers, due to concerns that Beatbox and Skandinavian would favour Tinderbox and NorthSide Festival unfairly.

Today Peter Sørensen, the owner of Beatbox Booking, sent out a mail to all of its associated artists, seeking to clarify that Beatbox Booking is under separate ownership from Beatbox Concerts, hoping to communicate that there is no interest, nor potential for direct economic gain in Beatbox Booking favouring Tinderbox over other festivals. Furthermore Sørensen expressed regret at how the move against his company has been made with no prior communication from the group of established festivals, that Beatbox Booking has otherwise been collaborating with for several years. According to him, Brian Nielsen, the CEO of Skandinavian and co-owner of NorthSide, is the only person who has a leg in each camp and could hence have a theoretical interest in favouring the festival he is part of. Regardless, Sørensen so far seems to hope to get across that booking and festival organisation are kept as separate activities in both his own company and Skandinavian, and thus hopes to be able to meet with the different parties to settle things in a sensible manner.

Sørensen's mail to the bands is available for those that read Danish over at Gaffa.dk, and we will of course be keeping up with developments in the whole matter.
