Updated: Paris shootings involving Eagles of Death Metal venue

The Paris venue Le Bataclan concert hall in Paris is now being part of the horrific shootings in Paris. The venue, that was to host a Eagles of Death Metal gig this evening, is rumoured to be the center of a 60 person hostage situation. The death toll so far is being reported at 15, but local sources have already gone as far as to report more than 60 deaths.


Our hopes and thoughts are with the victims, the hostages and the family of these.


Update: 23:55 UTC +01:00: The updates are now indicating that a suicide attack took place outside the venue. The hostage toll is debated now to be between 60 and 100. A police source has also indicated, that a person inside the venue is in possession of a bomb.


Update: 00:06 UTC +01:00: The death toll is now up to 60 accumulatively across the city as these 6 horrific attacks have been carried out, the Le Bataclan incident being one of these. The estimate of how many people are currently being held hostage inside the venue is still around 60-100 persons.


Update: 00:10 UTC +01:00: Reuters confirm, citing a police source, 40 deaths and 60 injured.


Update: 00:12 UTC +01:00: Billboard reports that the band members are safe.


Update: 00:14 UTC +01:00: France has declared a state of emergency.


Update: 00:25 UTC +01:00: Reports are now stating that 2 attacks were suicide attacks. The football match of Germany vs. France at Stade de France is also involved.


Update: 00:30 UTC +01:00: 5 explosions are now being reported near Le Bataclan.


Update: 00:55 UTC +01:00: Reports are saying that the situation in Le Bataclan has been the target of a police intervention. According to police sources the intervention has been "successful". Two hostagetakers have been reported shot.


Update: 01:05 UTC +01:00: Police may have been forced to intervene in the hostage situation due to explosives being used against hostages.


Update: 01:17 UTC +01:00: 100 dead in Le Bataclan.
