Myrkur begins recording second album

Danish black metal act Myrkur has entered the studio with producer Randal Dunn to record her sophomore album, initial sessions for which recently took place at the Black Tornado Studio in Copenhagen. She plans to release the effort, which follows her 2015-outing "M", through Relapse Records in the Fall, and offered the following initial comments regarding it:

I have spent the last year writing songs for this record and choosing which ones should make it. It has been a very different approach as well as process, compared to my debut album. I am mixing Kulning into the melodies, an ancient Scandinavian herding call and the lyrics are in different languages. I am very happy to have Randal Dunn produce the album here in Copenhagen, even though he is American, he seems to have Nordic blood and music running in his veins. It’s a very exciting juxtaposition for me.

Myrkur will perform at this summer’s Copenhell festival, which takes place between June 22nd and June 24th in the Refshaleøen industrial area of Copenhagen, as well as a number of other festivals worldwide.

She has also confirmed herself as one of the supports for Wolves In The Throne Room’s Danish concert, which takes place at Den Grå Hal in Copenhagen on April 27th, alongside the already announced Afsky.

Tickets for the concert are available through Billetto.dk for 160 DKK (+ fees), with more information found in the official Facebook event.
