19 artists added to Copenhell's 2021 line-up

Copenhell has announced a batch of new artists for its 2021 edition, which will take place at its usual location of Refshaleøen in Copenhagen, Denmark between June 16th and June 19th next year — many of them from the line-up that was supposed to play at the festival this year.

In the big name department the Norwegian black metal legends Emperor have been re-confirmed for their first-ever concert on Danish soil (as unbelievable as that sounds), as have the Swedish progressive rock and metal maestros of Opeth, who will thus be testing the live worthiness of their latest album “In Cauda Venenum” in a festival setting, having been approved by us indoors last year.

Moving down the bill, the supergroup Death To All will also be carried over from the 2020 line-up to pay tribute to the legendary technical death metal band Death, while Norway’s crowd favourite death-punk act Turbonegro appears as a new addition. They will be joined by their countrymen in Vreid continuing the legacy of Windir’s final album “Sognametal”.

Another newly announced band is the Swedish nu metal crew LOK — and speaking of that genre, P.O.D. will still feature on the bill next year as well. While on the topic of divisive genres, there is also the Swedish eurodance and metal fusing group Nerved as well as Alestorm frontman Christopher Bowes’ intergalactic power metal project Gloryhammer amongst this latest reveal.

It wouldn’t be Copenhell without thrash metal of course, so Destruction, High Command and Sacred Reich will all be carried over from the 2020 line-up in order to get those circle pits spinning.

Dog Eat Dog and Raised Fist will ensure hardcore punk fans will be satisfied in 2021, too — and as a new addition, they will be joined in that category by the metallic hardcore brutes of Knocked Loose, renowned for their violent shows.

In classic hard and progressive rock territory, attendees of the festival can look forward to watching Hällas, Soen, Thundermother and Witchcraft, all of whom were also supposed to play this year.
