Portugal's Blitz magazine is reporting that the country's biggest metal export Moonspell was recently accused of promoting Satanism by a Polish sociologist by the name of Ryszard Nowak. According to the report, which first appeared in the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Nowak — who is said to be a member of an anti-cult organization — held a press conference in which he accused Moonspell of being Satanic and claimed that the band's "scandalous" performances promote "hate, animal slaughter, devastation of the Christian church and propagation of death." A petition was also launched to persuade the mayor of Warsaw to stop Moonspell's performance in the city from going ahead.
